A man has died following an incident on the M6 near Preston yesterday (November 19).

The man, in his 80s, is believed to have suffered a cardiac arrest.

He was taken to Royal Preston Hospital for treatment but later died. The man is from Walton-le-Dale.

Police were called around 4.25pm to reports of a collision close to junction 31 after a car became involved in a minor collision with the central reservation.

A statement from Lancashire Police said: “We were called around 4.25pm yesterday (Sunday, November 19) to reports of a collision close to Junction 31 of the M6.

“A Honda Civic car had been involved in a minor collision with the central reservation.

“The driver, a man in his 80s, was believed to have suffered a suspected cardiac arrest and taken to Royal Preston Hospital for treatment where he sadly later died.

“The road was closed for two hours while accident investigators attended the scene.”
