Broughton crossroads closed due to crash

The reworked Broughton crossroads has seen another crash.

Two cars have collided where Whittingham Lane crosses the A6.

Traffic lights were recently removed from the junction and the priority of the crossroads changed.

Emergency services are on the scene but it is not thought anyone is seriously hurt.

The crash took place shortly before 10pm on Thursday (16 November).

One Broughton resident said it was the fifth crash in the last week.

Lancashire County Council made the changes following the opening of the Broughton bypass.

Traffic heading east-west in Whittingham Lane now has the priority over traffic on the old A6 – which still remains closed southbound and northbound at the police station.
