A man has been arrested on suspicion of affray and false imprisonment after a woman was threatened with a knife.
The incident occurred this morning (November 20) at a high rise block of flats in Avenham Lane, Preston.
Police were originally called out at 7.35am. They found a man had barricaded himself and a woman in the flat and had threatened her with a knife.
The fire service, ambulance service and police were all present at the scene. The woman has been taken to safety following the arrest.

A statement from Lancashire Police said: “We were called to a high rise block of flats in Avenham Lane, Preston, at 7.35 this morning after a concern for safety of the occupier.
“On arrival the man had barricaded a woman inside the flat and was making threats to her with a knife.
“Police and fire crews were called and a 45-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of affray and false imprisonment.”
