Armed police officers pulled a woman and her friends to safety during the early hours of Saturday morning.
Police were called to the London Road bridge over the River Ribble at 3.15am on Saturday (28 October).
Reports came in a woman had fallen 40ft into the Ribble, close to the Capitol Centre.
When officers arrived they found three people on the bank of the river and they were helped to safety.
The woman who had fallen in the river was taken to Royal Preston Hospital.
She was not found to be suffering serious or life threatening injuries.
