A taxi was left stranded at a busy city centre crossroads today (October 23) at one of the busiest times of day.

A picture sent to Blog Preston just before 5pm shows the vehicle stuck in the middle of the junction of Aqueduct Street and Garstang Road as traffic started to build.

There is currently no indication as to the cause of the incident.

Preston Bus has also distributed a warning about congestion in the city affecting a number of services this evening.

A statement on Facebook said: “It’s that time of day again folks, & the #Preston road network is looking congested in the usual places:

“Services 19, 6 & 5 will experience delays along Deepdale Road inbound to the bus station. This may have a knock-on effect on the same outbound services leaving the bus station.

“Service 19 may also experience some delays on Sharoe Green Lane (inbound to the bus station)

“Ring Way is slowing in both directions of travel, services crossing the city centre are likely to be delayed (23, 31, 35, 44)

“Service 23 is also affected by the usual pinch points at The Black Bull lights and Royal Preston Hospital.

“Service 89 will also see congested conditions on Portway, Mariners Way and Blackpool Road.”
