Preston Railway Station partially evacuated due to ‘suspicious item’

Preston Railway Station was partially evacuated this morning (October 4).

Police were called to reports of a suspicious item on board a train at the station.

Virgin Trains staff conducted a partial evacuation of the train and platform as a precaution.

The item in question, a water bottle, was declared safe upon closer inspection.


A statement from British Transport Police said: “We responded to reports of a suspicious item on board a train at Preston.

“Upon closer inspection the item (a water bottle) was declared safe.”
