Preston man charged with Ribbleton attempted robbery

An Avenham man has been charged following an attempted robbery in Preston.

The incident in Ribbleton put a 53-year-old woman in hospital where she passed away five days later.

Gavin Jones, 41, of Oxford Street, Avenham, has been charged with attempted robbery.

The incident took place outside the Megasave Store in Blackpool Road shortly before 9.30am on Thursday (5 October).

A man tried to grab a cash bag from the hand of the woman.

She was taken hospital and passed away there on Tuesday (10 October).

A post mortem examination is due to be carried out to establish the cause of her death.

Jones is due to appear at Preston Crown Court on Tuesday 14 November.
