Police helicopter called to rail line near Bamber Bridge

NPAS Barton set to take off

A police helicopter was on the scene near Bamber Bridge after reports of a body on the track.

NPAS Barton examined the area around 3.54pm on Thursday (October 26).

It was described at the time as a ‘suspicious incident’.

No traces of the body were found on the line.

A statement from British Transport Police said: “We were called at 3pm on the 26th following reports that a body was seen on the tracks near Bamber Bridge.

“Officers attended and were supported by the National Police Air Service, a full line check with conducted, there was no trace of a person.

“Lines were reopened.”
