An elderly female driver has been checked over by paramedics after a crash in New Hall Lane.

Preston Police closed off the major road in Fishwick after a collision involving a taxi and a silver car.

One of the new traffic lights, put in as part of a revamp of the road, has been left flattened and the silver car ended up crashing into the shutters of a chemist.

Police sealed off the road from its junction with Acregate Lane shortly after 11.45am on Sunday (29 October).

The road is now understood to be back open.

No one is thought to be seriously injured following the crash.
