Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service have extinguished a fire on the sixth floor of a block of flats.
The fire service were called to a building in Birley Street at around 1.34pm today (October 2) before later being joined by additional crews from across Lancashire.
The fire was put out by 3.13pm and fire crews prepared to exit the scene.
A statement from Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service said: “At 3.13pm a fire in a flat on the sixth floor was extinguished and the firefighting and search for casualties has ended.
“There were no casualties and the cause of the fire is to be established.”

The fire service used hose-reel jets and an aerial ladder platform while dealing with the incident.
Crews also entered the building using breathing apparatus while searching for the source of the fire as well as any potential casualties.
Fire engines from Preston, Penwortham, Bamber Bridge, Fulwood all attended the scene originally before being joined by additional crews from Wesham, Chorley, Leyland, Longridge and Blackburn.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
