Preston has no intention of introducing a congestion charge – as the latest fake news warning is issued.
A post on Facebook claimed a £10.50 daily charge was going to be introduced between 7am and 6pm on weekdays.
Preston City Council has moved to rubbish the claim saying ‘there are no plans to introduce a congestion charge in Preston’.
The city council posted a screengrab of the Facebook post on the City of Preston page with ‘FAKE NEWS’ written over it.

Preston city council leader councillor Peter Rankin joined the criticism – but added the cryptic: “Interesting concept. But totally untrue in the near future.”
