Preston schoolboy to appear in classic opera performance

A Preston boy is preparing to make his debut on the stage at the Charter Theatre this weekend.

Luke Maughan, aged five, is performing with the Russian State Opera in Madama Butterfly.

Set in Japan at the turn of the century the show is one of the most colourful and exotic of all operas.

The Christ Church Charnock Richard pupil is performing with the opera.

Luke is a big fan of singing, arts, crafts.

He said: “I’m really looking forward to performing in the opera. It’s amazing to be part of an intertionally acclaimed production.

“I will certainly remember the experience for a long time.”

Puccini’s Madama Butterfly is on from 7.30pm on Sunday 24 September.

Tickets are £31 for adults, concessions £29.50 and under-16s are £21.50 and available from the Guild Hall website.
