A man’s body has been found in the River Ribble.

Preston Police closed off footpaths near the river on Wednesday (6 September) evening.

Reports came in around 5.55pm of a man’s body being found close to Holme Road, Penwortham.

The 79-year-old man’s body was recovered from the river. He is from Preston.

His death is not being treated as suspicious and his next of kin have been informed.

Police say a file will now be passed to the coroner.
