A man has been arrested following attempted armed robbery at a Preston City Centre convenience store.
The incident happened at around 2:35am on Tuesday morning (September 5) at Mace Express on Friargate when someone entered the store, produced what is described as a handgun and threatened the lone shop worker to hand over cash.
The shop worker refused to hand over money, held up a stool and the offender then left empty handed.

A 25-year-old man from Preston was arrested last night (September 6) on suspicion of robbery and remains in police custody.
The victim was praised by police for how he responded to the situation.
DC Paul Gilfoyle, from Preston CID, said: “I must commend the shop employee who handled the situation in a calm manner in what would have been an extremely frightening and stressful situation.”
