Major delays are expected as the M6 had been shut at Preston.

Lancashire Police had closed the motorway at Junction 32 southbound.

A lorry jack-knifed on the slip road.

All traffic is being diverted off onto the M55 westbound, and then back onto the M6 via the M55 eastbound.

A car is also thought to be involved in the collision.

The incident took place around 7.40am on Friday (29 September).

Delays are expected through until around 3pm and delays southbound are already back to Junction 33.

There’s a knock-on effect on the M6 northbound with delays between Junction 31A to Junction 32.

Highways England says they have a team on site to sweep fuel which has been spilt onto the motorway.

At 11am the motorway was fully reopened.
