Driver of Toyota appears in court accused of ramming police car

A man has appeared in court charged with ramming a police car in Preston.

The incident took place on Friday 1 September around 4pm.

Officers from Preston Police were on patrol when they tried to stop and speak to the driver of a black Toyota Auris close to the Adelphi pub in Adelphi Street.

The driver attempted to get away, reversing his vehicle into the patrol car.

Andrew Eccles, 19, of Raven Street, Deepdale, was charged with dangerous driving and possession of cannabis.

He appeared at Preston Magistrates Court on Monday (11 September).

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 and ask for PC 4075 Plummer.
