Arson investigation launched after pallets fire in Preston city centre

Firefighters have dealt with a suspected arson in the centre of Preston.

Crews were called to Tithebarn Street, near the St John’s Shopping Centre, to reports of a fire.

Wooden pallets outside the shopping centre had been set on fire.

Two crews from Preston Fire Station put out the blaze.

Smoke had found its way into some of the St John’s stores, including B&M Bargains, which were evacuated with any night staff asked to leave the building.

Preston Police have now begun their investigation into the fire which started around 7.40pm on Monday (18 September).
