Woman suffers serious head injuries after city centre collision

Police are appealing for witnesses after a pedestrian suffered serious head injuries in a collision in Ringway yesterday (August 2).

A 49-year-old woman was crossing the dual carriageway from the market towards Lawson Street at around 1pm.

She reached the central reservation before stepping out into the carriageway and was involved in a collision with a brown Peugeot 3008.

She suffered serious head injuries and was taken to Royal Preston Hospital where she remains in a stable condition.

The occupants of the Peugeot were uninjured.

The road was closed for three hours while an investigation took place.

PS Malcolm Bell, of the Road Policing Unit, said: “The woman involved in this collision suffered a serious head injury and we would urge anyone who was in the area and witnessed what happened to contact us.”
