A woman has died following a crash on Ringway in Preston city centre.

Preston Police have named the pedestrian who was struck by a car as 48-year-old Monika Brodecka.

She was taken to Royal Preston Hospital following the incident on Wednesday 2 August at 1.05pm at the junction of Lawson Street and Ringway.

A Peugeot 308 collided with Monika and she was taken to hospital with serious head injuries. She died from her injuries during Wednesday (9 August).

PC Mark Potter of Preston Police said: “A woman has sadly lost her life as a result of this collision and our thoughts remain with her family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.

“We are now determined to piece together exactly what occurred and would like to speak to anybody who saw the incident and has not yet given an account to the police.

“If you know anything, please contact us as soon as possible on 101.”
