A Penwortham pub is to serve its final pint at the end of August.
After years of fighting a decision to demolish it as part of a plan for hundreds of homes on the site, The Sumpter Horse, is to sup a final drink.
Regulars are being invited to a farewell party at the pub on Saturday (19 August).
Landlady Marilyn McDonald, who fought a public inquiry against the housing company, is decking the pub out in Christmas trees and other decorations for the party.
The pub’s location is embroiled in the plans for the Vernon Carus Mill site off Leyland Road.
Bovis Homes have been granted permission to demolish the pub and build the access road to the development in its place.
