The perfect job for any gin lover has been announced.
A Preston bar is looking to recruit a gin taster for its new role behind the bar.
1842 Restaurant and Bar, in what used to be the Corn Exchange, has a gin bar attached to it – The Rabbit Hole.
It says it needs a fresh set of taste buds to decide which gins it should serve.
Director Brandon Seddon said: “There’s not many roles where you can say you’re actively encouraged to drink on the job! We recognised a real gap in our skillset for someone who is more obsessed with gin than us, to help keep us ahead of the curve.
“We are inviting gin lovers to join us at a special three day gin festival and make it known that they want the job! We are looking for someone who knows their Gordons from their Jinzu, their Hendricks from their Haymans and their Bombay Sapphire from their Bloom.”
The bar’s outdoor gin garden opened in April and has 60 international gins on the menu.
1842 says the tasting role is incorporated into a full-time senior bartender vacancy.
Those interested in the job are not asked for a CV but instead tell 1842 management what their favourite gin is and why it captured their palate.
If you’d like to apply then visit 1842 between office hours Wednesday to Friday to speak with a manager.
Applications close on Friday 15 September at 5pm.
