This particular exercise aims to develop the ability of NATO armies to respond together to emerging crises, while training Georgian troops to serve with the NATO Response Force.

It is two weeks long in total and enables soldiers to learn from other armies across the world.

Pte Ainsworth, aged 20, has trained Georgian soldiers in infantry tactics and fired the US Army’s M4A1 assault rifle, within the exercise.

The training is to build towards a 72 hour simulated mission for the multinational force.

Pte Ainsworth said: “This exercise has been really good for the camaraderie of working with other nations, talking to different soldiers and learning about their Army and their culture.

“We can gain a lot from working with other armies, by comparing how each of us do the same job slightly differently and taking from that.

“It’s very hot in Georgia with temperatures over 35C and dealing with the heat has been hard for a Preston lad but I’m getting used to it!”
