A Preston DJ is one of the new faces of weekends on Radio 1.
Jordan North, who started his career on Preston FM and Rock FM, is part of a rotated line up for the flagship station.
Currently living in Penwortham the broadcaster is going to be on your radio between 10am to 1pm on either Saturday or Sunday.
He’s one of four new DJs being tested out on the weekends to replace Matt Edmondson who has TV commitments.
Radio 1 controller Ben Cooper said: “It’s up to Radio 1 to get that next generation of broadcasting talent.
“Can they knock at the door when the right opportunity comes along and say ‘We want a show on Radio 1’? I like that enthusiasm, that energy.”
North, who has lived in Preston since he was 11 and went to school at Penwortham Priory Academy, started out on community station Preston FM (which is now CityBeat), before joining commercial radio.
He’s presented on Rock FM, The Hits and Capital Manchester, and is already doing the odd show on Radio 1.
Jordan said: “It doesn’t seem that long ago when I was studying Media Production at Preston’s College and presenting my first ever radio shows on Preston FM’
“I left Rock FM last year to have a proper crack at in London and today’s announcement makes me feel like I’m going in the right direction and proves that the Radio 1 are actively looking for the next new presenters’
“I’m really excited and genuinely flattered that they have asked me to be a part of their 50th birthday celebrations.”
Cooper said of North: “You look at Jordan, he’s got that great northern wit, that ability to tell a great story, and he’s down to earth in talking about it.”
