Emergency services are dealing with an incident near the police headquarters in Hutton.

The air ambulance has been called out after a man has been seen dangling from an electricity pylon.

Vehicles from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service are in attendance.

The incident is off Liverpool Road and is ongoing as of 4pm on Monday (7 August).

The man’s injuries are not known at this stage, but he is understood to be alive from eyewitnesses at the scene.

A spokesman for the police said:Ā “We were called around 3pm today to reports a man was suspended from a pylon off Howick Moor Lane in Penwortham.

“Emergency services are at the scene attempting to bring the man down.”

A spokesman for the fire service said: “The call came from the police reporting that a man, alive but incapacitated, was trapped at a height of 20 metres above the ground in an electricity pylon. Fire crews from Penwortham, Bamber Bridge, Fulwood, Chorley, Hyndburn and ‘Rope Rescue’ colleagues from St Annes were assigned.

“The utility company shut off the electricity to the pylon and members of the Rope Rescue Team ascended the pylon, initially securing the casualty to prevent him falling, then administering medication provided by medical personnel at the scene.

“At 6.36pm. Casualty rescued, transferred by the Rope Rescue personnel to a stretcher on Hyndburn’s Aerial Ladder Platform, then lowered to the ground and attended to by paramedics.”

The man was brought down from the pylon around 6.45pm and put into a waiting ambulance.
