Investigation begins after Fishergate Hill flats fire

Police and firefighters are investigating the cause of a fire not far from Preston city centre.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service sent four fire engines to the fire at a block of flats.

The fire sent smoke billowing into Fishergate Hill, close to the junction with West Cliff.

Four firefighters needed to enter the block of flats to bring the flames under control – from around 9pm on Friday (4 August).

Initial reports suggested someone may have been trapped inside, but no one was hurt in

A fire service spokesman said they did not know why the fire had started and had asked police to investigate.
