A date has been given for when the new Preston Indoor Market is to open.
Being built under the cover of the city’s listed Outdoor Covered Market the glazed structure is beginning to take shape.
Preston City Council has now given a ‘target date’ to have it open.
Traders will do their final day of trade in the current Indoor Market on Saturday 2 December and be in their new surroundings on Monday 4 December.
The multi-million pound project is the second phase of the £50million markets revamp – which culminates in the current Indoor Market being demolished to make way for a new cinema and restaurants complex.

Throughout August the public will see the panels of glass being put into place by a ‘spider-crane’ as the work continues.
Leader of Preston City Council councillor Peter Rankin said: “I am pleased to announce that we are on target for the opening of the new Market Hall before Christmas.
“If you haven’t yet had a chance to see the progress, take a look through the viewing windows located at the top and bottom of the 1875 market canopy or from the Upper Market balcony.”
It is not yet known exactly which stalls will make up the new covered market, with the city council saying negotiations were progressing well.
