Roadworks which began at a busy Preston junction on Friday look set to finish early.

Temporary four-way traffic lights and lane closures had caused delays at the junction of Garstang Road, Lytham Road and Watling Street Road.

United Utilities is carrying out urgent repairs to a leak under Lytham Road in Fulwood.

Work began on Friday (28 July) and is expected to last until Thursday (3 August).

However engineers on site have been making better than expected progress and the temporary lights and lane closures may be lifted by Monday (31 July) evening.

Garstang Road on the southbound and northbound approach to the junction remains down to one lane.
