Staff at Tiggis restaurant have received letters informing them its parent company will be placed into liquidation.
Blog Preston has seen copies of a letter which shows that members of staff have been laid off as of July 12, 2017 because the company which operate the restaurant, La Marokina Limited, will be placed into liquidation.
This comes despite claims from the restaurant that it is only closed while problems with the toilets are resolved.
A sign had initially been placed outside Tiggis saying: ‘This restaurant is now closed for business apologies for any inconvenience’.
This was then replaced with one saying: ‘Due to unforeseen circumstances the restaurant has unfortunately closed down. We will be reopening shortly.’
A spokesperson said to the Lancashire Post on Saturday (15 July) that the restaurant would reopen once the work was finished but gave no timescale.

The letter states that the staff laid off cannot make claims for money owed until the company is officially placed into liquidation.
It also highlights that the process is being handled by Beevers & Struthers who have offices in Manchester, Blackburn and London. The letter was sent by Charles MacMillan, who specialises in corporate recovery and insolvency.
Tiggis website has also been taken offline.
The restaurant, in Guildhall Street, has been serving Preston since 1978.
Blog Preston has contacted Beevers & Struthers for comment – but no response has been forthcoming.
Blog Preston visited Tiggis on Tuesday (18 July) evening. The restaurant was still closed and they declined to comment when asked about reopening or the financial situation of the restaurant.
