Road closed after four-vehicle crash on key route

A busy road has been closed following a four-vehicle collision this afternoon (July 11).
The incident occured outside the Shell garage between the junctions for Lancaster Lane and Dawson Lane.
Lancashire Road Police have advised vehicles to avoid the area.
The road has been closed to allow specialist recovery.

A statement from Lancashire Police said: “We were called shortly before 1pm to reports of a collision on Wigan Road, Leyland.
“The vehicles involved are a lorry, a Ford Fiesta, Vauxhall Zafira and Nissan van.
“The road is closed whilst the vehicles are being recovered.”
There are currently no details about any injuries.
