Penwortham biker’s final ride in sidecar hearse

A former fireman brought the streets of Preston and Penwortham to a halt on Tuesday (4 July).

John Melling, who passed away at home aged 64, brought his love of motorbike riding to his funeral.

His coffin was taken in a side car flanked by motorbike riders to Preston Crematorium.

It made a stop off at Preston Fire Station where John had worked.

He leaves behind his wife Tania, children Charlene, Lorraine, Nicola and Jonathan. He was a grandfather and great-grandfather.

The family have asked for any donations to be made to the St Catherine’s Hospice.
