The hard work of green-fingered allotment holders is being ruined by ‘continuous issues with youths’ at one Preston site.
Penwortham East allotments saw an arson attack on Wednesday (19 July) around 10.30pm when a number of greenhouses and sheds were targeted.
The charred remains are just one of a number of recent incidents at the Leyland Road site.
One allotment holder, who asked not to be named, said: “It was my shed which was burnt out.
“There are issues with youngsters continuously causing damage. They smash greenhouses, steal goods and break the plants.
“Please can people share this to stop the cowards.”

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service sent two crews to put out the shed fire on Wednesday evening, one from Penwortham and one from Preston.
They confirmed an arson investigation had been started as firefighters believed the fire had been started deliberately.
The Penwortham East allotments, run by Preston City Council, and the Penwortham West allotments, have both had recent issues with vandalism and arson.
Anyone with information about the incidents is asked to call Lancashire Police on 101.
