King Karai has become the latest restaurant to announce it is closing its doors.
The iconic Indian restaurant, in Watery Lane, will close in August to allow the owner, Babu, to focus on his retirement.
Deven Chauhan, son of the owner, said: “My father Babu Chauhan has decided to close the doors for good as he is now embarking on a new chapter of his life, retirement.
“He wanted to end the restaurant on his own terms instead of the other way round.
“We are looking to close the restaurant by the start of August.
More: Spice of Bengal has shut down
“We would like to thank all of our customers who visited our restaurant over the years especially those who come on a regular basis; without them we would not have been able to sustain the restaurant for over 20 years.
“The premises will continue you to run as a restaurant after we have gone, as a new owner will be taking the reign under a new name.
“We hope our community will serve them well as they did us.”
The announcement follows news that Spice of Bengal, in Friargate, has shut down.
