The Gap Outlet at Preston’s Capitol Centre looks ready to close with a sign in the window telling customers “This store will be closing on August 5 2017.”
AdvertisementThe store, located in Walton le Dale, also has a 60 per cent sale advertised in its front door.
Customers are currently unaware as to whether the 60 per cent sale is a ‘closing down’ sale or not.
Gap is originally an American worldwide clothing and accessories retailer, providing products for the entire family.
The store is currently situated in-between Next and Home Sense stores at the Capitol Centre, one of Preston’s most popular retail parks.
A member of staff from the store told the Lancashire Post that the 60 per cent sale is the same as what the other Gap stores are currently doing.

They also said that staff were told in May that the store would be closing in the near future.
This is due to it’s lease being up and that the company has no plans of renewing it at the Capitol Centre.
This means that around 20 members of staff will lose their jobs, however some of the management have been offered the opportunity to transfer to other Gap outlets.
The nearest Gap store now is in the Freeport Fleetwood shopping outlet.
It remains unknown at the moment whether another store will be opening in Preston or the surrounding area.
