A solo show telling the story of Preston’s suffragette is heading for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Edith Rigby’s fiery storey is being told by Certain Curtain Theatre.
Woman on Fire is the one-woman show put on by Claire Moore.
She’s crowdfunded the performance, which tells of how Rigby – a passionate campaigner – fought for women’s rights.
Claire said: “We’re booked in for Edinburgh Fringe now and it’d be great to see any Prestonians who are making the trip up in the audience.
“Plans are progressing for taking the show on tour next year as part of the Vote 100 celebrations.
“As the play is a celebration of the suffrage movement through the eyes and life of Edith Rigby, it seems fitting to incorporate it into the marking of 100 years since some women got the right to vote.”
Part of the funding for the show is coming thanks to Blog Preston readers.
As a Community Interest Company funds from advertising revenue as reinvested into community initiatives, with £500 from Blog Preston helping to cover the cost of going to Edinburgh.
Woman on fire is being put on at theSpace on North Bridge (venue 36) from August 4-12 and again from August 14-26 at 12.55pm each of those days. It runs for 50 minutes.
Tickets for the show can be bought via the Fringe website and funds to help put on the show can still be donated via GoFundMe.
