Cotton workers dance across the Flag Market

Preston’s Flag Market played host to a diverse range of entertainment during Saturday (22 July).

Part of the Preston Tringe Festival – a week long arts festival at venues across the city – performers took over the central square of the city.

Paul Melling was there to capture pictures in particular of Cotton – a dance performance that really caught his eye.

It tells the story of the industrial revolution and the lives of cotton workers.

Performed by the About Me dance company it kept the audience transfixed with sounds and costumes from the era.

A stage also saw live music on the Flag Market from a number of acts for the Tringe Street Experience, running from 12noon to 5pm.
