Preston’s BMX group is appealing for the return of a number of its bikes.
Based at Fishwick Nature Reserve the Preston Prirates club was broken into.
Thieves made off with a number of specialist bikes which are worth hundreds of pounds each.
The club was targeted on Tuesday (4 July) evening and Ian Brookes from the Pirates said they had received reports the bikes were being offered for sale around the New Hall Lane area.
As well as bikes being taken a compressor – for pumping the tyres – was also stolen.
Mr Brookes said: “The bikes are for the local kids to use and without them we can’t run sessions.
“We have already had to cancel this week’s sessions with the special educational school which is really disappointing.”
