Someone has tried to set fire to the Holiday Inn

A major hotel in Preston city centre was evacuated on Friday night due to a suspected arson attempt.

Roof felt on the eighth floor of the Holiday Inn, on the Ringway, had been set alight according to Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service.

Crews from Bamber Bridge, Preston and Fulwood were called out around 9pm on Friday (2 June).

No one was hurt and the fire service quickly extinguished the fire.

Guests were allowed back in the hotel around 11pm on Friday.

Preston Police have been passed the incident to investigate and anyone with information should call 101.
