Preston city centre road closed due to Bus Station work

A route through Preston city centre is to be shut until the end of August.

Lancashire County Council has closed a section of Tithebarn Street from the junction with Old Vicarage.

The closure is already in force – having started on Thursday 1 June.

A diversion is in place sending motorists down Carlisle Street, Pole Street and into Lords Walk.

It is due to work on Preston Bus Station as the county council continues repairs on the grade-II listed building.

Tithebarn Street’s section is shut until Thursday 31 August.

Part of the road was due to become a new bus lane, until the Labour administration u-turned after Christmas on the plans, and it is not known if the Conservative-controlled County Hall will continue with the proposal.
