Preston’s Caribbean Carnival procession will not be going through the city centre this year.
The event – which was cancelled last year due to funding problems – takes place in the Moor Park area with a scaled down parade.
A number of roads are being closed for Sunday 25 June as the carnival makes its way around Moor Park, down Deepdale Road onto Meadow St, St Paul’s Road, Sedgwick St, North Road,
Garstang Road and back into the park.
The following roads are to be closed from 11am to 3pm while the parade takes place – although Preston City Council say they hope to open them earlier as the parade progresses.
Moor Park Avenue – fully closed
Deepdale Road – closed from Moor Park Avenue to Meadow Street
Meadow Street – closed from Deepdale Road to St Pauls Road
St Pauls Road – from Meadow Street to Sedgewick Street
Sedgewick Street – fully closed
North Road – from Sedgewick Street to Garstang Road
Garstang Road – from North Road to Moor Park Avenue
A diversion will be in place as the carnival procession takes place.
The following one-way traffic restrictions are also being lifted during Sunday to allow easy access: Ripon Street, Havelock Street, Derwentwater Place, Kenmure Place, Holstein Street, St Stephen’s Road and Meadow Street.
