Penwortham’s Gala returns on Saturday and Sunday with parades, fun fairs and a Rod Stewart tribute act.
Road closures have been announced ahead of the annual event which sees the community come together for two days of celebrations.
A gala procession runs from 12.30pm on Saturday (10 June) and runs along Hill Road South, Marshals Brow, Pope Lane, Cop Lane, Liverpool Road, Chesmere Drive, Newlands Avenue , Moorhey Drive and then back into Cop Lane.
Cop Lane is closed from 12.30pm to around 2.15pm when the procession finishes – while other roads have intermittent closures.
The procession is being led by the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service pipe band.

Here’s what’s on throughout:
2.15pm – official opening of the Penwortham Gala by the Mayor of Penwortham councillor Jim Patten
2.30pm – Amanda Rogers school of dance and performing arts perform
2.50pm – Cat Morewin performs solo vintage 50s swing style
3.10pm – Performances by the Double ‘R’ arts theatre group
4pm – Dancers from Carol May’s Academy perform
6.30pm – Kate Stokes performs a range of musical theatre songs
7pm – Ska pop party band get the party started with classic ska and reggae hits from the decades
8.30pm – Gerry Trew, one of Britain’s best Rod Stewart tribute acts, performs including hits such as Maggie May and Sailing
10pm – entertainment ends
11am – Penwortham Churches Together open air church service – a special service by all the churches of Penwortham and open to all
12.30pm – Annual Teddy Bear’s Picnic, including prizes for the best dressed teddy bear
Children’s entertainment runs throughout the afternoon
2.30pm – Lostock Hall memorial band perform as the pace slows down
