Leyland Road re-opens in Penwortham after crash

A major road in Penwortham was shut by police due to a serious crash.

The air ambulance has been called to a crash involving a motorbike.

Update: Police confirm biker died in Penwortham crash

Eyewitnesses at the scene say the motorbike rider was on the ground being treated by paramedics.

Preston Police closed Leyland Road, near Penwortham Methodist Church, in both directions.

The crash took place at the junction of Riverside Road and the B254 (Leyland Road) around 6.30pm on Saturday (17 June).

Police also closed the pedestrian bridge over the Ribble at Broadgate.

The road re-opened shortly after 9pm on Saturday.
