Police have stepped up patrols in Deepdale after a gun was pointed at a group of men.

Reports came into police around 2.30am on Monday (26 June) of four men attempting to gain entry to a property next to Quwwatul Islam Masjid in Peel Hall Street.

A police spokesman said: “As the men tried to leave the address in a vehicle it is reported that one of the men in the car pointed a firearm at a group of people who were outside the mosque and in the path of the vehicle.”

Police say they do not believe it was the mosque that was being targeted and no one was hurt in the incident.
