A former furniture store in Deepdale could become a new banqueting hall.
Used for religious weddings, ceremonies and functions it would have space for 25 tables of ten seats.
46 parking spaces would be available at the banqueting hall in the V and A Home store in St Mary’s Street North, off Ribbleton Lane.
Proposals from the Richard Shuttleworth Architects group state in they are not applying for an A3 use (similar to a restaurant) but a class D2 use for the assembly and leisure.

Plans state: “The premises are located a significant distance from the nearest houses or other sensitive uses and as such the extension will not be detrimental to residential amenity.”
“The proposal will result in a vacant building being brought back into a viable use. It will provide much needed banqueting facilities for people within the Preston Area.
“The site is located within a primarily commercial area away from residential properties and as such will be a complimentary business to the area. The premises benefits from having a large car park and is close to public transport routes as well as being within walking distance of Preston town centre.”
The full plans can be found on the city council website and comments left there on the application.
