One of Preston’s most successful independent retailers, Scene Preston is celebrating its 20 year anniversary this Bank Holiday Sunday.
Scene Preston first opened its doors in 1997 as the first and only skater shop for other skateboarders as well as selling street-wear.
Located on Friargate, Scene Preston plan to celebrate their 20th birthday at Moor Park skate park with a two-part skateboard jam.
The day event is from 12pm-7pm and during the event, people can enjoy music, food, a live art wall and more. There will also be competitions, prize giveaways and an appearance from Sidewalk, a British skateboarding magazine.
The night event is an after party located a Blitz nightclub from 10pm.
Chris Davison, the owner of Scene Preston said: “The skating scene is a growing scene in Preston and I think it has maintained a moderate level. The skate parks have been around for 3 years and have really helped build the scene of skateboarding and allowed other skaters to come together and meet others and it’s quite a community thing. The skating scene is still slowly growing.”
The event is not only to celebrate a successful 20 years but also let people of Preston know about the shop as well as its heritage and bring awareness to skateboarding and its scene.
