Pedestrian in hospital after crash near Preston Docks

A man is in a serious condition in Royal Preston Hospital after a collision near Preston Docks.

Major traffic delays are being experienced around the Docklands area following the incident shortly after 6pm.

Inspector Kim Sturgess confirmed a car and a pedestrian had been involved in a collision on Monday (8 May) evening. Sadly the man involved has now died.

The pedestrian, his age is unknown at this stage, was hit by a car on the A583 near the junction with Pedders Lane in Ashton-on-Ribble.

The A583 – Watery Lane – is shut in the direction of Preston city centre while police accident investigators work at the scene. Pedders Lane has also been shut.

No details are available on the vehicle involved.
