Preston’s new Mayor is to be marked with the annual ceremony at the Town Hall.
The city council meets on Wednesday (17 May) from 6pm and the public are welcome.
Ribbleton councillor Brian Rollo takes up the chains for the next 12 months.
He will step down from his role as chairman of the Preston City Council planning committee.
Cllr Rollo becomes the 690th Mayor of Preston and the ceremony remains hardly changed over the centuries.
The current mayor councillor John Collins will pass the chains over to councillor Rollo during the service.
Deputy Mayor councillor Trevor Hart will also take up his role during the ceremony.
Members of the public are welcome to attend the ceremony which can be viewed from the public gallery in the main council chamber.
