A stitch in time of Preston’s retail history has closed its doors for the final time.
The Wool Shop at Lane Ends had been in business since 1991.
Friends Linda and Lisa have decided to retire and decided to close the shop in Ashton-on-Ribble.
Their woolly creations had been popular gifts for many and they also ran knitting classes.
Writing on Facebook the owners said: “We would just like to say a fond farewell to everyone who has supported the business over the 25 years it’s been open.
“We’ve enjoyed helping our customers and we’ve made lots of friends along the way but retirement beckons and as much as we’ve loved it it’s time to put our feet up.
“A massive, great, big THANK YOU to you all. Love Linda and Lisa. Keep knitting!!”

Regular knitters have been reacting to the news.
Beverley Nicholson said: “Still miss my visits to the shop and our chats. Enjoy your retirement, you deserve some time to yourselves.”
While Zizi Stockdale said: appy Retirement! Enjoy it. You’ve earned it. Not a knitter, unfortunately, but loved the shop and the page on FB. It would’ve been impossible not to admire the craftsmanship on display. Best wishes for many years of enjoyable pastimes.”
