Fire crews called after suspected arson at offices at Preston Docks

Crews called to incident in Watery Lane

Police are investigating an incident in Preston Docks that the fire service believe could be arson.

Crews from Penwortham and Preston were called to a fire at an office building in Watery Lane at around 4.12am this morning (May 10).

It is believed the fire was started deliberately and police have been informed.

A statement from Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service said: “The office building comprised two floors and a basement.

“There was a small fire on the first floor and two fire engines and crews, from Penwortham and Preston, responded. Firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus used a hosereel jet to put the fire out and used a portable fan to extract the smoke.

“There were no casualties. The fire is believed to have been started deliberately and police have been notified of the suspected arson.”
