Fire crews battle car fire after suspected arson

Fire crews were called to a car fire in the Ribbleton area early this morning (May 29).

One appliance from Preston attended the scene in Greenthorn Crescent at around 7.40am.

They found a car on fire on the road and used a hosereel jet to extinguish it.

It is believed the fire was started deliberately and police have been informed of the suspected arson.

A statement from Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service said: “A fire engine and crew from Preston were assigned to a car on fire at the roadside.

“Firefighters used a hosereel jet to extinguish the fire, which they believe had been started deliberately.

“There were no casualties. Police notified of the suspected arson.”
