A city centre eatery has been closed temporarily while the owner works out a dispute over business rates.

Yo Burrito, in Friargate, opened in December 2015 but Jamie Palmer has taken the decision due to a sharp rise in his business rates.

Blog Preston has been contacted by a number of readers expressing their dismay at not being able to get a lunchtime burrito fix.

The burrito takeaway has been closed since Wednesday (24 May).

Mr Palmer took over the building which had previously housed a chocolatiers and coffee shop.

He said: “The business rates are causing us great difficulties.

“We’ve appealed to the council. Business rates are too high, they are extortionate.

“We’re hoping to have this resolved and will keep our customers updated.”
